Data residency
Requirement Yogi now supports data residency for both Requirement Yogi for Confluence and Requirement Yogi for Jira apps. This ensures that your data is stored and processed in a specific geographic region, helping you meet compliance and governance requirements.
Supported regions
We currently support the following regions:
🇪🇺 European Union (EU): hosted in Ireland
🇺🇸 United States (US): hosted in Virginia
Default region: If data residency is not configured, data is stored and processed in the EU region by default.
Realm pinning
New installations
For new installations, data residency is automatically determined based on your Atlassian site’s pinned location:
If your Atlassian site is pinned to a supported region (EU or US), your data will be stored and processed in that region.
Otherwise, your data will be stored and processed in the EU region by default.
Existing installations
For existing installations, data residency works as follows:
If you uninstall and reinstall the app within 30 days, data will remain in the same region to avoid accidental data loss.
If you uninstall and reinstall the app after 30 days, it works like a new installation (the region will match your Atlassian site’s pinned region if applicable, or default to the EU region). However, please note that if the region changes, you will lose your data.
Realm migration
Currently, we do not support automatic migration of data between regions (e.g. from EU to US).
If you still want to change the data residency region of the app:
You can contact Atlassian Support to force a realm migration for the app. However, this will result in loss of all data associated with the app.
After the migration, you can recover most data by navigating to Confluence >
Apps>Manage apps>Requirement Yogi>Administration>GDPRtab and clicking theRESTOREbutton.This will re-index all your Confluence pages and macros, which are the primary source of data in our Confluence app.
Warning: Any user-generated data not defined in Confluence pages, such as saved matrices, configurations, transformations, Jira links, etc., will not be recovered and will be permanently lost.
Note: We plan to support seamless migration between regions in a future update. In the meantime, please contact us if you have specific migration needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I manually move data from one region to another?
A: No. Currently, we do not support automatic migration of data between regions. Contact Atlassian Support if you want to force a realm migration for a given app (with data loss), or contact us if you have specific migration needs.
Q: What data is recoverable after a forced realm migration and full reindex?
A: Most content extracted from Confluence pages and macros will be recovered, including requirements, properties, links and page links. However, any user-generated data not defined in Confluence pages, such as saved matrices, configurations, transformations, Jira links, etc., will be lost.
